Utilizing Kid Role Models for Teaching Character Development

If you are familiar with our character development videos, you know that we have shared stories of prominent adult figures in our 1st-grade episodes in the past. We have taken a slightly different approach with our kindergarten series. We started with 12 episodes about essential classroom citizenship skills, then we focused solely on six character traits (kindness, empathy, respect, teamwork, honesty, and perseverance), then how those character traits are displayed at school, and now we’re highlighting inspiring and relatable kids who exemplified those character traits.

Our final six episodes will be about community members who exemplify those traits – stay tuned!

We hope that by highlighting kids, your students will better identify with them and better understand the character trait at hand. We genuinely believe their stories will inspire your students to show perseverance, teamwork, empathy, and other positive character traits! Scroll down to watch a sample episode and to learn more about how you can watch all six episodes.

Sample Episode: Perseverance & Amy Bockerstette

Amy Bockerstette is a golfer who has Down syndrome, but she doesn’t let that get in her way! She’s a disabilities advocate, and she is the first person with Down syndrome to receive an athletic scholarship to attend college.
