October Classroom Themes, Holidays, and Activities!

When you think of October, you might instantly think of all things fall, like Halloween and pumpkins, which makes for an exciting month in the classroom for teachers and students. Here is a list of October themes, activities, and holidays that correlate with our character education and classroom citizenship video episodes and supplemental resources. The idea is not to cover all these lessons but to give you options to pick and choose from.

LatinX and Hispanic Heritage Month (LHHM) – September 15th – October 15th

LHHM is the perfect opportunity to celebrate LatinX culture and the contributions of Hispanic Americans with students. Integrate this into your lesson plans with our Integrity & Sonia Sotomayor and Citizenship & Roberto Clemente 1st/2nd-grade video episodes!

Annual Roberto Clemente Award

Yet another great reason to watch our Citizenship & Roberto Clemente 1st/2nd-grade episode in October. The Roberto Clemente Award is a prestigious annual award given to the Major League Baseball (MLB) player who “best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement, and the individual’s contribution to his team.” You can learn more and vote here. World Teacher Day – October 5th

Celebrate and honor teachers all over the world with our Kindness at School kindergarten video episode!

Fire Safety – Fire Prevention Week October 6th- 12th

A day to learn, observe, reflect, create, and connect! The history of Indigenous People in the U.S. is vast. For young learners, we recommend celebrating and learning about indigenous historical figures, like Jim Thorpe. Universal Music Day – October 12th
